The software will allow users pinpoint the exact geographic location of the accident by directly plotting on a map or using GPS handsets to obtain coordinates.

Officials said user IDs to access RADMS application (www.tnradms.org) has been created for Highways, Police and Transport Department staff who have all been imparted necessary training. Accident data was captured through RADMS since Sept 2009 and that from Jan 2009 uploaded in RADMS.

They said the application would ensure elimination of lack of availability of data and heavy backlog in paper-based reporting process, which may trigger lack of clarity in an FIR

RADMS, inagurated by highways minister M P Saminathan here, has been developed by World Bank aided Tamil Nadu Road Sector project wing of Highways Department at a cost of Rs 21 crore in coordination with state police.
